About
the Artist
“Life and light abound here in Wyoming and I’ve been blessed in that I am
able to spend time enjoying these wonders. With my camera, I strive not to
capture these natural gems, but to present a window through which others may see
and enjoy them as well. If the viewer experiences even a small part of the awe
and splendor I’ve tried to depict in my photographs, to see nature as my eyes
and camera sees it, then my work has been a success.”

Few working photographers are as inner-connected to their subject matter as
Wyoming native Cody L. Brinton. Raised to love and appreciate the great
outdoors, he has spent his life surrounded by the clear running streams, cowboys
at work and play, wildlife and the grandeur of the mountains. After a life of
seeing and loving these natural wonders, it is no wonder they have become the
topics of his photography.
“It’s hard to explain the way I feel when I encounter all forms of western art –
simple images, paintings, clay. They conjure the same emotional response you get
when surrounded by things which make up your personal history and are part of
your soul; your memories. For me it’s from a lifetime of being out there in the
stillness of nature or the dusty, rowdy, vibrant lifestyle of western culture.
We all have a need to express or preserve life’s experiences in some fashion, be
it storytelling, graphic art, literature or music: I’m blessed to have found my
way of doing that with photography.”
Brinton is self-taught, which means he’s shot literally thousands of images,
day-by-day, with a variety of cameras, lenses and various other photographic
apparatus. Having mastered the technical aspects of photography he now combines
that with passion and patience for the subject matter to offer the viewer a
wonderful glimpse into his world.
“I often spend many days camped in remote places, waiting for just the right
lighting conditions or for the wildlife to be in just the right place and
position. I photograph wildlife to show their natural behavior and beauty. There
are so many fascinating things to be seen when wildlife is unaware of humans
observing them; I try to present that in my work."
Brinton has the same philosophy when it comes to straightforward, yet artistic,
documentation of the textures, colors and dust of the working cowboy. The beauty
of hand-tooled leather and the sometimes not-so-pretty rough and tumble action
that happens in the blink of a rodeo second. Having been a cowboy and rodeo
rider, Cody knows his way around this life from experience. His photographs make
you feel you’re at the rodeo, waiting your turn to ride.
These photographs are high resolution works, printed in large format ready to be
framed and displayed with pride in your home or office.

us know if there’s anything we can do to size one, or a series, of these images
for you. Please check back often. The seasons, sights and life in these parts
continue to change. When they do, Cody Brinton will be out there waiting to
capture with his camera that one precise moment that will take your breath away.
